Month: March 2020

Front 9 Open

The front 9 will open today at 1:30 pm.  All groups that teed off at 11:30 or after can now play the full 18 holes.  All groups still need to tee off of #10 today to start their round.

Tomorrow we expect the process to go well and hopefully be done with the back 9 by 1:30 pm.  If you are playing tomorrow after 11:30 please plan to play the course in full from #1 to #18.  For any groups prior to 11:30 please plan to play the front 9 twice.

Lastly, starting tomorrow with the high volume of tee times being used either Ryan or myself will be in the Golf Shop to answer calls for tee times between 10:00 am and 3:00 pm.  If you are booking on the day of play you cannot use the online app, but you will now be able to call the Golf Shop.  Please note that the Golf Shop will remain closed to in person visits.

Thank you to everyone for your patience during these unprecedented times!

Greens Aerification

The front nine will closed today for aerification of greens and the back will be closed tomorrow.  Shannon plans to have all 18 holes back open for play on Saturday.  We know that this is a disruption to golf, especially in this great weather.  But this is an absolutely necessary practice that we are already behind schedule on due to the extreme rainfall experienced this spring.  Shannon is going to solid tine aerify so there will be less disruption to the greens and they will fill in very quickly.  We appreciate your patience while our staff executes this absolutely essential agronomic practice.

For all groups playing today please start play on #10 and go back to #10 tee for your second nine.  For groups playing on Friday please start on #1 and go back to #1 tee for your second nine.

Outdoor Tennis Court – Online Reservation System

Dear Members,

Because of the ongoing shutdown of the indoor tennis courts, tennis center, and fitness center, the staff here at the tennis center are delighted to bring you a new way of reserving court times for the outdoor tennis courts.

Starting today and going through the future, all members can reserve court times up to twenty-four hours in advance of when they would like to play.

The instructions for how to access the online court reservation system are at http://www.ccptennis.com/instructions.pdf

Thank you for your time and patience. If there are any questions or concerns, please contact either Chris Dallas or Justin Farley (justin.farley94@gmail.com).

Respectfully,

Golf Shop Update

Hopefully one day soon I will be writing to inform you on tournaments and other fun events, not the latest government mandates.  But unfortunately, today is not that day.  With the new executive order from the Governor all “Non-Life Sustaining” businesses must close at 5:00 pm tomorrow.  The directive is for 10 days so it looks like Tuesday, April 7th will be the next possible date that we will reopen.  It seems like the rules are changing daily, so I will do my best to keep our membership up to date.

During the shutdown I will be available by phone 803-312-2523, email, and on a limited basis at the club.  If you need anything during this time, please reach out to me.

As it currently stands the golf course is still open for walking or private carts (recommended only 1 person per cart).  Please do not tee off before 9:00 am.  Initially we had planned to work on a first come first served basis for tee times.  But with the good weather forecasted we are going to ask that members book their tee times online.  If you do not have access through the club app to the tee sheet, please see below for instructions.  You can book tee times 7 days in advance for weekdays and on the Tuesday prior for weekends.

This is uncharted water for me as a professional and I ask that our membership do your best to use the online tee sheet.  We will see best results if tee times are booked before midnight on the day prior to play.  The online system will not allow you to book a tee time on the day of play, if you see an open time on the day of please plan to come out and use that time.  There will be hiccups with this system, I ask for your patience while we are in this shutdown situation.

Also, please note that Shannon may begin aerfication of the greens complexes sometime within the next few days.  Due to the extreme rainfall that we have received this spring Shannon has not had an opportunity to aerify.  If we do begin aerification one side of the course will be closed one day and the other will be closed the following day.  When a date is set, I will make sure this is communicated.

Lastly, it is imperative that our members respect the hard work that Shannon and his crew put into our facility.  PLEASE FOLLOW ALL POSTED CART GUIDELINES TO ENSURE THAT OUR FACILITY IS IN OUTSTANDING SHAPE WHEN WE COME BACK FROM THIS MOST UNEXPECTED BREAK IN ACTIVITY.  Also, please remember to repair ball marks and fill divots when playing.

While the game will offer a much-deserved break from the reality of the COVID-19 pandemic we need to make sure that all golfers are taking the necessary steps to stay safe and keep others safe.  Please see below for some best practices that we ask all golfers to follow while at the facility.

CCP Best Practices for Golfer Safety

  • Please wash hands frequently or use hand sanitizer while playing or practicing
  • Please leave the pin in at all times while playing golf
  • All rakes have been removed from the bunkers to eliminate touch points, please smooth the sand back with your foot after hitting a bunker shot
  • All golfers taking private carts are recommended to ride alone
  • Please follow all social distancing guidelines when playing or interacting with members and staff at the club

Important Golf Shop Update

We continue to be in unprecedented times in the golf world and the world as a whole.  As of 5:00 pm today as mandated by our Governor our Golf Shop will close.  During this period the Golf Shop and driving range will be closed.  Golf carts will not be available for rental as put forth in the Governors guidelines.  We do want the game of golf to be an outlet for our membership and encourage any member wishing to play to enjoy the walk.  We cannot tell those with private carts how to use them, but we do strongly encourage any with private carts to follow the guideline of only one rider per cart.  We do not want to be the club that takes unnecessary risks during this serious outbreak.

With each day seemingly bringing new changes we do not want to put a date on when the Golf Shop will reopen.  We will monitor all government regulations and return to normal operations as soon as possible.  Chad is planning to run an online golf shop, please keep a lookout for updates.  During this closure we ask that you email Chad when you plan to play, cmartin@ccofpaducah.com, so that we can track rounds played.

Tennis Bubble Closed

All,

Unfortunately, due to ongoing concerns with COVID-19 spread, and by heeding the guidance of the Governor of Kentucky, the Tennis Center, Fitness Center, and Tennis Bubble are closed until further notice.

We sincerely apologize for this inconvenience, but we understand the necessity for this action to help the health and safety of our community.

Rest assured, the Tennis Center staff will be monitoring the ongoing situation diligently, and are excited to reopen the Tennis Center and Tennis Bubble as soon as possible.

Until that time,

Behind the scenes, we have been working on an online way to reserve tennis courts, schedule lessons, and enhance the member experience here at the Tennis Center of the Country Club of Paducah. With this massive pivot away from normal operations, we are working on an online system for members to be able to reserve courts. We will be working on this, and hope to release it this week for members to use. When that time comes, please be on the lookout for an email from us.

Once again, we thank you for your time and patience with us. The health and safety of our community are in our hands, and we are incredibly blessed to have such a fantastic community here at the Country Club of Paducah.

We look forward to serving you again in the future.

With Much Respect,

Justin Farley

Tennis Center Update

Members,

There have been a couple of changes to how the Tennis Center is conducting operations. We would like to take a second to go over some of those changes.

The two significant changes are our Tennis Center hours, which have been reduced slightly through the workweek. Also, because of a massive influx in play recently, we are now asking all members to call ahead to reserve a tennis court. We have had to, unfortunately, remove players because all of our courts were reserved at one time, we would like to work with all of you to ensure this does not happen.

  1. Fitness Center is closed until further notice.
  2. Water coolers and individual cups of water will not be provided. Please come up to the Tennis Center to get beverages.
  3. Tennis Center hours are now M-TH 8:30 AM to 6:30 PM, F 8:30 AM – 4:30 PM. Weekend’s remain unchanged.
  4. ALL MEMBERS PLEASE RESERVE A COURT BEFORE PLAY

We understand that these changes are not what anyone would like to see, unfortunately, because of the ongoing Pandemic across the United States, we are trying our best to do our part to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

We thank you for your tireless dedication to the Country Club of Paducah, and your love of Tennis. We promise we will continue to keep you informed of any changes that are coming. Remember, it is up to all of us to help ensure the health and safety of each of you, our staff, and our community. Thank you.

Respectfully,

Justin Farley

Course & Rules Update

It looks like we may have a few playable days this week.  The golf course is extremely wet so we are going to have some unusual rules in place.  For the rest of the weekend we ask that all push carts remain in the rough only.  We had a few leave major ruts down the middle of fairways on Sunday, and have now had at least 3 more inches of rain.  Also, today and possibly tomorrow the driving range will be closed.  This is due to the extremely wet conditions on the tees and the body of the range.  I am sorry for any inconvenience but we need to protect our course and facilities.

On another note this is just a reminder to follow the best practices that we have put in place.  Please see below for a reminder.  We are also going to use sections of pool noodles in the cups to keep the ball at a height where golfers will not have to reach into the cup to retrieve their ball (great idea Ryan Mitchell!).  I hope everyone stays safe and can still enjoy this wonderful game.

  • All golfers taking carts must ride alone
  • Please follow all social distancing guidelines when playing or interacting with members and staff at the club
  • The golf staff will disinfect touch points throughout the day in the Golf Shop and the cart staff will wipe down cart steering wheels and other high touch areas
  • We ask that all golfers still check in but please limit your time in the Golf Shop to help staff and members stay safe
  • Any bag storage bags will go with the member following the first time they go out of bag storage
  • Other than ball crates all other equipment will be removed from the driving range to eliminate touch points

Golf Operations Update

We are certainly in unprecedented times in the golf world and the world as a whole.  I would like to keep everyone updated on where our golf operations stand, and best practices you can use to stay safe and keep others safe while golfing.  It has been a trying last few days with what looks like many more to come, and I hope that the game of golf can be a bright spot.

Currently, the Golf Shop will continue to operate from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm Tuesday through Sunday.  The range and practice green will also be open normal hours.  If government restrictions change, I will keep our membership updated as to our hours of operation.

The Klondike Classic which was scheduled for Saturday, March 28th has been rescheduled to Saturday, April 18th.  As we move forward we will keep the membership updated on the scheduling of other upcoming events.

While the game will offer a much-deserved break from the reality of the COVID-19 pandemic we need to make sure that all golfers are taking the necessary steps to stay safe and keep others safe.  Please see below for some best practices that we ask all golfers to follow while at the facility.
